"Sweet" Experimental Typography
Project Type: Typography
Programs Used: Adobe Photoshop
Year: Spring 2020
I created “Sweet” Experimental Typography in my Graphic Design II class. In this project, I explored handwritten typography, untraditional methods of creating a typeface, and composition.

The goal of this project was to create my own typeface using materials not traditionally used to design typefaces. A stipulation to this project was that the word I chose to create had to connect to the materials I would make it out of. To begin this project, I selected my materials of frosting and sprinkles because of my love for baking. The word “sweet” was a natural choice to go along with frosting and sprinkles and is the quality I love most about baked goods. I then sketched out various handwritten typefaces that would complement the word “sweet”, frosting, and sprinkles. I landed on one that was swirly and fun to speak to the nature of my word and materials. Using a frosting bag and tip, I frosted out my typeface on a baking sheet and added sprinkles on top. I set up a composition around the baking sheet that consisted of the frosting bag and other baking tools and captured a photo to preserve this project digitally.
