I created Potato Soup in my Topics in Graphic Design class. In this project, I explored illustration, typography, and informative poster design.

For this project, I was tasked with choosing a dish or meal culturally significant to my family and to creatively show a history of the dish or meal. I chose potato soup for this project because of its relevance to my culture – Irish – and its history in my family. I started this project with research into potato soup and all the ingredients that go into it. From my research, I created illustrations of my dish, the ingredients, and the ingredients’ countries of origin to illustrate the history of potato soup. Additionally, I digitally recreated my grandma’s handwritten recipe card to highlight the dish’s familial significance. My typography was inspired both by the handwriting’s personal touch as well as by Celtic typography popular to Irish culture.
