Flower Patterns

Project Type: Illustration

Programs Used: Adobe Illustrator

Year: Spring 2020

I created Flower Patterns in my Digital Media Design I class. In this project, I explored floral illustrations, repetition, and different color schemes.

My process for this project began with taking photos of and sketching different types of flowers in search of one to become the base for my project. After sketching multiple flower types in different styles, I chose one to illustrate and build swatches from. Swatch 1 contains repetitions of my flower illustration and Swatch 2 contains my flower illustration confined within a circle. I duplicated both Swatch 1 and Swatch 2 across a grid to make different patterns. I then experimented with and applied different color schemes to the patterns to result in four different colored patterns from Swatch 1 and two different colored patterns from Swatch 2
